JULY 28, 2025 – FED MEETS THIS WEEK, RATES EXPECTED TO REMAIN UNCHANGED
Futures markets are not expecting the Fed to act at this week’s regularly scheduled meeting, despite the pressure being put on the Fed by the President, to bring interest rates down.
The President met with Fed Chair Jerome Powell last week, and said he believes the Fed is on the cusp of easing monetary policy. The Fed has been reluctant to lower rates this year, waiting to see the impact tariffs will have on inflation. Powell feels the economy is in a strong enough position to tolerate rates at their current levels. The President wants rates to come down to help the economy and specifically the housing market.
The Fed is expected to announce a rate cut in September; as there is no meeting set for August; and once again before the end of the year.
